You're deep in a spreadsheet, three cells away from spotting the error that's cost the company twelve grand, when your colleague leans over: "Quick question—do you know if Karen from accounting is vegetarian?" By the time you've explained you have no idea and redirected your brain back to row 847, you've forgotten what you were looking for. So you start over. Three cells in, another question: "Is it pronounced 'gif' or 'gif'?" You never do find that error. Karen from accounting did eat the catering shrimp, and somehow you're the villain.
