when you're trying to find something in your house and you end up looking in the same spot five times before you finally see it

I've spent twenty minutes searching for my keys, opening the kitchen drawer, closing it, then opening it again like they'd reproduced in there. On the sixth try, they were sitting right on top, gleaming like they'd been waiting for me to develop object permanence. My brain had apparently filed them under "invisible until I'm already late."
